Welcome to the February issue of The Trailhead!
Each month, you will receive some practical tips on ideas such as eliminating stress, finding your passion, clearing clutter, and maybe even some travel tips and more. Also look for helpful resources including book titles and websites. In addition, don’t be surprised when you find a call to action. I am a coach, after all! I hope you find some useful tidbits monthly challenges. If you know someone that you think may find something of value in here, please forward this newsletter on. And remember…the adventure begins at the start of The Trailhead!
In this issue:
Celebration Time- C’mon!
Welcome to February! We’ve passed the midway point between the seasons and we’re now headed toward spring. Yeah, baby! So…I see that as a celebration time (with a tip of the hat to Kool and the Gang for this month’s title J) There’s lots to celebrate in February…starting with it being Black History month and President’s Day to Ground Hog’s Day and Valentines Day as well as Susan B. Anthony’s birthday to school wide celebrations of the 100 day of the school year to Mardi Gras and the beginning of the return of New Orleans. And the list goes on.
For me, this month’s celebrating has everything to do with the addition of our newest family member (and Robert’s and my first grandchildJ), Anna. If you hadn’t noticed, she’s the little cutie pie whose picture graces this newsletter. We just got back from the San Diego area where we celebrated with her proud mom and dad (As well as her great grandmother, her other grandparents, and many loving aunts and uncles and cousins)
Here’ the thing about celebrations: they are a commemoration of an occasion, an event, or an achievement. Celebrations are so very important…no matter how big or how small. Celebrations of a particular group or organization reveal much about its culture and what is valued. Since Anna’s mother Van and her side of the family are from Vietnam, we celebrated Anna’s one month birthday by taking part in a beautiful Vietnamese traditional gathering where her ancestors were honored and thanked and a delicious feast followed.
In some cases, we celebrate to give recognition to a job well done and for the recipient(s) to feel noticed and appreciated. The celebration may be noted in a special party or dinner in honor of the recipient. While thinking about celebrations, let’s not forget to celebrate our own individual achievements, as well. I’m in the process of getting further certification in my coaching and I will most definitely celebrate when that is all completed!
So…what about YOU? What do you have to celebrate these days? I believe that every single human being on this planet has something to celebrate about their life or themselves, no matter what their situation is. What will you celebrate this month??
Challenge at the Trailhead:
Why not take a good look at your life this month and make a list of all you have to be grateful for. And one you’ve made that list…celebrate! Take yourself on a mini retreat…in your home or to a favorite haunt in your area…go it alone or invite a dear friend or relative. No matter what you do or where you go, make it a point to do some real inner work and then let the celebration begin.
